TDP has demanded resignation of Minister for Investment and Ports Ganta Srinivasa Rao for his failure to fight for the location of the port at Nakkapalli in the district.

Taking exception to the manner in which an all-party meeting was convened by, the TDP has dared the Minister and Congress MLAs to resign and accept their challenge to participate in the movement for getting the port to the district.

Accusing the  Minister of getting elected from the district and enjoying political power but letting the people down on the issue of the port the TDP MLAs V. Ramakrishnababu and G. Rama Naidu told reporters on Monday that the four party MLAs from the district would resign and dared the Minister and Congress MLAs to resign to participate in the movement for getting the port located at Nakkapalli.

“We are prepared to lay down our lives for the port and launch an agitation like the one for Visakha steel plant,” Mr. Rama Naidu said adding that the minister was misleading people because of his love for his native Prakasam district,

He said in spite of the presence of Visakhapatnam port and Gangavaram port and that of the Eastern Naval Command the Rajasekhar Reddy government had issued a GO permitting captive jettiy for the Anrak Aluminium Limited.

Party organising secretary Kona Tata Rao demanded that the Minister make public the recommendations of the technical committee which was discussed at a meeting at which the Minister was present early this month.
