The Telugu Desam Party Krishna district unit has demanded the State government reconsider the recommendations of the Cabinet Sub Committee on fee reimbursement to students of Backward Classes.

Addressing a media conference at Vijayawada on Tuesday, TDP State executive committee secretary K. Nagul Meera said the Cabinet Sub Committee had recommended a cut in the fee reimbursement to the BCs.

The government boasts of allocating Rs.1.27 lakh crore for the BCs’ welfare in the State Budget, but, it was not being implemented into. The BCs were getting a raw deal under the Congress rule, he alleged. The government was all set to trim the budget on fee reimbursement. The fee reimbursement  arrears amount was mounting, but the government had not been releasing adequate funds, he said.

TDP Vijayawada (West) constituency in-charge B. Venkanna said the Congress government hoodwinked the BCs promising that it would pay the fee. The fate of many BC students was hanging in balance with indifferent approach of the government. TDP BC cell urban president M. Srinivas Yadav, and vice-president Ummadi Srinivas Yadav were present.
