TDP seeks white paper on Delhi trips
Wants details of expenditure incurred on Kiran, Governor in last three years
Telugu Desam Party has demanded the release of a white paper on the expenditure incurred for the trips of Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and Governor E.S. L. Narasimhan to Delhi during the last three years.
In a statement here on Wednesday, senior TDP leader Y. Ramakrishnudu criticised the increase in revenue expenditure when the State was facing a bankrupt situation. While curtailing the funds meant for welfare measures and farmers, how was the revenue expenditure increased for visits, he asked and urged Congress leaders to avoid wasteful expenditure and ensure that there was no paucity of funds for irrigation and welfare measures.
Ramakrishnudu expressed anguish that Andhra Pradesh was not included in the list of drought-hit States. He said that though as many as 400 mandals in the State had deficit rainfall and drought was looming large, it was unfortunate that it had not come to the notice of Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar. He demanded assistance to the State under the Rs. 1,900-crore package announced by the Centre as also 50 per cent subsidy on diesel to farmers.
During the last eight years, the UPA government had been discriminating against the State and was rendering injustice in providing assistance under calamity relief fund, crop insurance or in sending central teams. While assistance to the tune of Rs. 50,000 crore was sought by the State dsince 2004 not even Rs. 2,000 crore was granted from the calamity funds
He criticised Congress MPs and Union Ministers hailing from the State for spectators and demanded an unconditional apology from Congress leaders in the State for ridiculing BCs by stating that they could not win even if tickets were given during Assembly elections.
