The Enforcement Directorate’s case on the Minister for Secondary Education, K Parthasarathy, had shocked the rank and file of the ruling Congress in Krishna district. The case exposes of his business practices and the party ranks here feel that the case and the two months jail term awarded by the court has brought down the image of the party in the district.
The Minister, who represents the dominant Yadava community in the district has no following in the district. A two-time legislator and first time Minister, Sarathy could not establish his support base in the district and is a failure as a BC leader.
The Congress voice is not heard in support of the Minister, which only exposes his disassociation with the party cadre in the district. However, the case had brought down the morale of the party leaders as Saradhi is the second Minister to be nailed by the court in the last couple of months, after former Excise Minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana was sent to jail.
Sarathy is guilty of misleading the election commission by not including the case in the affidavit of 2004 and 2009, for which neither the Minister nor his supporters have an answer.
