Accusing the Congress government of being responsible for the present power crisis in the State, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) demanded a white paper on Enrgy sector and urged the government to bear the additional burden of power tariff imposed on consumers.
Addressing the press, the TDP politburo member D Veerabhadra Rao said that the government had imposed Rs 10,000 crore additional burden on consumers by increasing power tariff this year.
The government had failed to improve the power infrastructure which had led to present predicament as it spent hardly Rs 2,000 crore in the planned expenditure on power sector. During the TDP rule, it had spent over Rs 13,500 crore to strengthen the energy sector. He said it was shame that the congress government had announced over seven hour power cut in villages even during the rainy season.
Another senior leader M Narasimhulu demanded the government to supply seeds to all farmers and provide input subsidy without any failure. Questioning the government’s sincerity in supplying nine-hour power supply to agriculture in the kharif season he alleged that the government had also failed to meet targets under its flagship programme- Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu to provide jobs to educated unemployed youth in the state.
