Warangal TDP to stage protests against erratic power cuts Print E-mail

The Telugu Desam Party district unit has decided to fight and state mass agitations against the erratic power cuts imposed by the government. Mass agitations would be held at all electricity sub stations across the district protesting the power cuts, warned the TDP senior leader Kadiam Srihari, MLC B Venkateswarlu and MP G Sudha Rani.


Addressing a press conference here on Saturday the party leaders have demanded the government to launch immediately measures to address the present power crisis. “The government should own the responsibility for present crisis in power sector,” they said adding the government failed in protecting the interests of small scale industry sector. As a result hundreds of small units were being closed down and lakhs of people have lost their employment.


Srihari said the government was lacking vision and as a result, of the total 1259 MW power supposed to be generated only 5,585 MW was being generated at present. The farmers were largely affected due to power cuts and the agriculture was in doldrums.


The TDP’s demonstrations at all mandal headquarters in the district were aimed at boosting confidence among farmers that their issues were being highlighted. Srihari also said that Union minister S Jayapal Reddy and state Panchayat minister K Jana Reddy, who he said day-dreaming of becoming chief minister for Telangana state but were doing nothing to help the region.
