Andhra Pradesh which took pride in leading country in pilot programs is now also at the top in faux paus.
Like numerous insntances of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Gandhi, Sania Mirza and former CM YS Rajasekhar Reddy being recipients of BPL ration cards now a plant with a photo of a mobile has been issued an Adhar card in the state.
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) authorities have issued Aadhar card with No. 49911866 5246 in the name of Mr Kothimeer (Coriander), Son of Mr Palav (Biryani), Mamidikaya Vuru (Village Raw Mango), of Jambuladinne in Anantapur district. Except for name sof Anantapur and the Jambuladinne Mandal, rest are all fictious terms. Obviously no one would have the name of a corriander ( Kothimir ) or Pulav (either Biryani or veg fried rice) and Mamidikaya Vuru.
The Card is lying at the Mandal headquarters since it arrived last week as none of the officials could locate either the village or the person by that name. However officials at Hyderabad centre of UIDA claim that such a card could be a prank by an mischevous employee or image grabbers and are investigating it.
Many at Jambuladinne Panchayat office are envious of the invisible card holder. 'He is lucky. We are waiting for over an year for the card' says Hanumappa (62) who was one of the first to stand in Que to get the IRIS eye scanner and photo graph for the Aadhar card. Anantapur was one of the six districts chosen for pilot implementation of the scheme in AP.
Local TDP MLA from Uravakonda in the district says that the prank was handiwork of a youth to expose the lopsided data collection for Aadhar cards. 'The private agencies entrusted with the job are nor serious about data collection' he said.
The UIDA officials say that in future they plan to send SMS to persons on their mobile after their Aadhar number is generated so that there would be no such mischief's or wait till the cards are recieved to realise the mistakes.
