There are millions of party soldiers who have remained devoted to Telugu Desam at all times. While some have sold all their life’s earnings, some have even sacrificed their lives to ensure that the party flag flutters with pride. All of them were motivated to be part of the yellow brigade because they felt it restored the good virtues and values in life that cannot be found elsewhere. The Party Workers’ Welfare Division was started with a noble objective of protecting the Telugu Desam party workers and their families during times of distress and securing their future with financial and other means of help.
Young leader Nara Lokesh launched the Party Workers’ Welfare Division in 2014 at the Mahanadu to extend not just monetary help to party workers’ families in both the Telugu-speaking states, but also necessary support for their health care, children’s education, marriage and other needs. Since inception, the Division has registered phenomenal numbers in terms of helping thousands of party workers in need. It is well known that orphaned children of deceased party workers are being educated at a residential school managed by the NTR Trust. What’s more, many talented children of party workers with financial difficulties are being enrolled into private schools, the cost of which is being borne by the party.
Party workers seeking help from the party can write an application, attach a photocopy of their membership card and submit them at the party offices across the two states.
Membership at Telugu Desam has been an age-old ritual that makes party members feel privileged and connected to the cause of the party. For the first time ever in the Country, TDP went a notch higher by bringing in a slew of benefits for members such as Rs. 2 Lakh insurance coverage (both death and accident), discounts in hospitals spread across the length and breadth of the two states and neighbouring states, concession in bus travel and others. It is making use of technology to record data in a bid to reduce manual errors. By charging a membership fee of Rs. 100/-, we built a strong eco-system where members feel involved and responsible in their various capacities and the party is made accountable for the security and welfare of each and every individual.
